Phonics Cove

UK curriculum inspired, online teacher-led phonics program, developed with a UK Department for Education partner.

From Sounds and Stories to Confident Readers

For children aged 4 and above, our Phonics Program is an advanced international English reading program modelled on the UK National Curriculum. Offered as an online teacher-led program, it is developed with a UK Department for Education–approved partner, ensuring high-quality and engaging early learning.

The program bridges foundational learning gaps observed in schools. Using a structured, step-by-step approach, it helps children understand the sounds and structure of words, building strong reading and comprehension skills for confident, independent learners.

Phonics Progression Levels

Covering 44 sounds across six levels, each phonics stage includes around 15 carefully chosen books and 24 home worksheets. Our focus is on output-driven learning, not busywork, helping children develop strong decoding, reading, and comprehension skills. As they progress, they gain confidence and independence, building a lifelong love of reading in a supportive, engaging environment.

What is Phonics?

Phonics is the method of teaching children to read and write by connecting sounds with letters or groups of letters. It ensures a structured approach to learning grapheme-phoneme correspondences (GPCs) – progressing from simple to more complex knowledge and skills. In essence, phonics cove provides a strong foundation for fluent reading, confident writing, and meaningful communication.

We follow Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP), a Department of Education, UK approved Phonics teaching programme, which helps children decode and read words confidently, building a strong foundation for fluent reading.

Our multisensory approach makes learning engaging and effective:

  • Fun, hands-on activities – to develop and apply reading and writing skills
  • Mnemonics, actions, rhymes & songs – to reinforce sound and letter recognition
  • Active repetition – ensuring rapid recall of GPCs and tricky words

Our Phonics classes are ideal for young learners aged 4 to 7 years, a stage when children begin developing early reading and writing skills. However, we are happy to guide parents of children outside this age range based on individual readiness.

Our live classes on Zoom are interactive, fun, and supportive.

A typical session includes:

  • Warm-up activities – to get children engaged
  • Sound revision & introduction – revisiting old sounds and learning new sounds
  • Blending & segmenting practice – building reading fluency
  • Guided reading exercises – applying sounds in words and sentences
  • Practice exercises for home– parents receive worksheets, reading lists, and simple home tasks that help reinforce learning.

To ensure individual attention, our batch size is intentionally kept small (4–6 learners). This allows the teacher to address each child’s learning needs effectively.

Each session lasts 40–45 minutes. Depending on the level, children attend 2 classes per week. Timings are designed according to the phonics levels they are learning.

Yes! Every child starts their learning journey confidently and at the right level.

  • Free Taster Session New learners are invited to experience our teaching approach. To ensure a smooth learning environment for our existing learners, taster sessions are conducted as witness-only sessions.
  • Baseline Assessment – A gentle, age-appropriate evaluation helps us understand your child’s reading level and recommend the most suitable class.

To ensure a smooth and focused learning experience, children will need:

  • Device – laptop or tablet preferred
  • Stable internet connection
  • Headphones – optional but helpful
  • Quiet space – minimal distractions

For younger learners (4–5 years), parental presence in the background can be helpful during the initial weeks. As children become familiar with the routine, they can participate independently.

Our fee structure varies depending on the phonics level of the child. For detailed pricing information, please contact us directly.

  • Course duration: Each level runs for 8-10 weeks, depending on the child’s individual needs for sound reinforcement
  • Sessions: Two classes per week
  • Payments: Advance payment is accepted for the complete 8-week course
  • Reading resources: From Beginning Level 2 onwards, a complete book set aligned with the equivalent Oxford Reading Level is provided to support reading practice at home.

This structured schedule and clear payment plan help ensure a smooth and consistent learning experience for every child.

Programme Levels

  • The programme is structured across Levels 1 to 6.
  • Levels 5 and 6 are further divided into three sub-levels each to manage increasing complexity and ensure effective learning.
  • Level 6 is introduced only after the learner has successfully completed Level 5 with us.

Paid Bridge Courses

We also offer separate paid Bridge Courses for learners who require reinforcement of previously learned sounds. These are available between Levels 2–3 and Levels 3–4, supporting effective recall and strengthening foundational phonics skills.
